New CrossLife Property Board Chair
I am pleased to accept the opportunity to Chair the CrossLife Property Board.
Whilst CrossLife Property wouldn’t necessarily be considered a front-line ministry of the Church, I’m convinced of the strategic importance that this board plays in both managing and releasing some of the key venues that God has blessed us with at CrossLife. These venues provide significant opportunities for us as a Church to connect with those in our community whose interaction with the Church would otherwise be limited. As we leverage these venues, in the right way and under God’s direction, it is my prayer that these venues allow us to bring God’s love to our local communities and to meet people where they are at, rather than requiring them to come to us.
One blessing from serving on the CrossLife Property board since it was founded is that I get to hear the stories of this happening.
I have been lucky enough to grow up in a Christian home and experienced the blessing of this. Moving to Helensvale Baptist Church in 1996 (after having just completed High School) however was an opportunity for me to step out and explore Christianity for myself. Through my time at Helensvale and CrossLife, I have had the opportunity to serve in a number of different ways including Youth Group Ministry, Young Ad’s Ministry, and in leading a number of different Life/small groups at different times. I now serve on the Church board, Chair the Finance Team, and am part of the Upper Coomera CLT.
In 2010 I was lucky enough to marry my beautiful wife Colleen and have since then been blessed with 3 wonderful kids – Abby (almost 6), Caleb (4) and Joshua (9 months).
From a career perspective, I completed my Accounting degree in 2000 and was registered as a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) in 2003. In 2004 I moved from working as an Assistant Accountant in the Retail industry to become a Financial Accountant in the construction industry. I have been working in the construction industry as an Accountant ever since and am now the Financial Controller at Coral Homes, one of the biggest residential builders in Queensland.
Since my University days, I have felt a strong leading to use my commercial qualifications and experience to serve God’s Kingdom through serving the Church. Serving on the Church Board, the CrossLife Property Board and being on the Finance Team at CrossLife have provided opportunities to do this. These have also provided opportunities to learn from and draw upon the experience of other professionals within CrossLife who have served on these boards.
We are privileged at CrossLife with the quality of leaders who serve us across many roles. Whilst it’s a somewhat daunting prospect to step into the role Bruce Collinge has performed so admirably, it is an honour to be asked to take on the role of Chair of the CrossLife Property Board and serve alongside this group of quality leaders on this board.
