ORANGE TIP: Family…
Many of us are blessed with families that love and care for us. Others find that family can sometimes be challenging and even a cause of pain. Most of us, at some point in our childhood at least, have wished we could ‘swap families’ – perhaps when we weren’t getting our own way or perhaps more seriously.
In John 1 we are told that we can become part of another family. John tells us that God, the creator of the world, has come into His creation, as Jesus, but that many have not recognised the creator among us. John goes on to say that those who do recognise and accept Jesus are given the right to become children of God.
Just as so much of our identity and sense of belonging is provided by our earthly family, so our true identity – as God created us to be – is found as we accept our status as children belonging to God.
Our challenge as parents who follow Jesus is to continue in a childlike discovery and celebration of the fact that we belong to God’s family. As we encourage, love and instil a sense of belonging in our children, we can also encourage them that they have access to an even more foundational identity and belonging as children of God. We have the privilege of pointing them to Jesus, God’s Word, the creator among His creation.
What is ‘Orange’? Orange is a visual reminder that to help our kids follow Jesus the church and families need to work together.
If RED represents the love and heart of families for their kids…
And YELLOW represents the light that the church should be in the world…
Then ORANGE is when we come together, work together and guide our children together.
