Pray, Pray, Pray

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV
Recently, our good friend Josh, underwent triple transplant surgery. Wow – we certainly prayed without ceasing! The Lord heard many, many prayers from His people and has given Josh an amazing recovery to date. We are thankful for how God is working in Josh’s life.
This verse, reminds us to pray without ceasing – for the big AND little things. God wants us to come in prayer to him about ALL the things in our life. The good, the bad, the joyful, the sad. Our God is a God who cares about us and all that we are going through.
Not long after Josh’s surgery I got a phone call from the school to tell me that Chloe was unwell and I needed to go and pick her up early. Unfortunately it was very close to school pick up time and you can NEVER get a car park. I prayed that we would get a car park close to the office as I hated the thought of Chloe sitting unwell in the office without me. As soon as I prayed I had a chuckle and knew in human terms this was a frivolous request. But – God hears us! He wants us to come to him continually and in ALL circumstances. As I drove down the street eagerly searching for a park, a lady walked to her car and started reversing. I couldn’t have got a park closer to the office if I tried!
God doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we expect or desire – however, there is something healthy about our walk with God when we continually bring our needs and issues before God – triple transplant surgeries and sick kids in the school office!
Perhaps this is why we must pray without ceasing on all matters – it draws us into a closer relationship with our God…
