Bags of Gold

Bags of Gold

“Again, (the Kingdom of Heaven) will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.”   Jesus.  Matt 25:14-30 (NIV)

The inference is, of course, that Jesus has given each one of us some valued resources and expects a gain of some sort on his return.

So, how do we do this? Well, I have two friends who demonstrate the investment of their giftings very well and they do it this way.

Investment advice for your Bags of Gold. “Mix them with Love and
give them away (with no strings attached).”

One has the ability to make things and the other the gift of hospitality. Both seem to be so motivated by love for God and people that their intentions are pure and selfless. And the love is felt by others as they freely share their God-given Bags of Gold without the pettiness of seeking recognition that often goes along with outstanding abilities.

So, be encouraged to invest your Gold in the Kingdom, even if you think you have only one Bag of Gold, for this ongoing investment is the life-blood of the Body of Christ. Whatever you do, don’t bury it!

“Freely you have received; freely give.”  Matt 10:8.
