Be careful; be very careful… not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven!
Be careful; be very careful… when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets as the hypocrites do, to be honoured by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full!
Be careful; be very careful… when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full! Matt 6
Carefully… look deep into your Father’s eyes and experience his pain over his broken creation; then minister from your Father’s heart of love. For, without your Father’s heart love, there is no ministry at all; nothing, but the sound of an empty tin can being kicked around an abandoned carpark.
Nothing expresses the Father’s heart of love like that Scripture from Isaiah that Jesus read in the Synagogue…
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Lk 4:18
Father, may we look long enough into your eyes to begin to see the World and its People as you see them, love them as you love them and minister to them as Jesus did.
