God’s Creative Power
These are my glasses. They are not created by God but they do influence something created by him: my eyes.
I only got glasses about three years ago. For 50 years my eyes could see wonderfully unassisted. But the day was always going to come. Creation is beautiful, but it’s not flawless. Amazing mountain tops can start avalanches, wondrous rivers can become destructive floods, and my eyes need glasses. I’m not apportioning blame or intention on the part of the created order, just stating something that is plain to see: creation cries under the weight of the flaws around it. Even in it. The bible calls it sin: rebellion against the Creator.
The beauty of creation can point me to God’s stunning creative power. The cries of creation point me to His grace and mercy. For only he deals with sin. By entering into this broken sinful world in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus. By taking the fullness of sin even to the point of death and all its power, and by overpowering it through rising from the dead, God dealt with sin through Jesus. Head on. He heard my cries and the cries of the created order around me, and brought about the pathway to redemption and renewal. May it bring my to my knees – daily.
I don’t know if there will be glasses in heaven. I doubt it. But I do know that I will see clearly. Forever. Thank you Jesus.
“We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” Romans 8:22 NIV
