The more I think about God’s Grace the less I know. And yet at the same time there are some amazing blessings to be had.
We are taught that Grace is receiving something that you do not deserve. This statement is something that is easy to get your head around.
And when it comes to God how he sent His Son to die in our place. For our wrong doing towards God. This takes a lot more to get your head around. Many people do not make that transition.
But God’s grace has many more layers. The longer you walk with him the more you see His Grace and his favour reaching out to you.
As individuals we walk separate journeys. Go through different challenges and carry a different cross to our brother and sister. Unfortunately, we pretty much only see our own situation. We do not have a clear vision of where our sister or brother is at. And at the same time we lock each other out of deep and fulfilling journeys that can be walked together. I know this because I have had people not realise that I might be in a slimy pit. And not only do they miss the fullness of what is going on in my life they usually engage in a way that is not helpful. Even though their efforts are appreciated.
Because I have experienced this. And because I have heard stories of others much later down the track who recount similar experiences we miss out on receiving Grace from our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as directly from God.
David recounts his experience of God’s favour and grace in his life. “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2 NIV
Fortunately, this is our God. Such encounters of grace can be more frequent in our lives than we imagine. We just need to allow God to extend His grace into our lives. To go deeper with Him. And we should think about how we can extend more Grace to each other to be blessed again as we go even deeper still. Why not see these deeper layers of God’s grace invade your life. Amen.
