ORANGE TIP: Who are you Discipling?

ORANGE TIP: Who are you Discipling?

Who are you discipling? – This might sound like a ‘super-spiritual’ question but it’s really not. If you are a parent, you are discipling your children. If you have friends you are discipling your peers. If you have any influence in anybody’s life you, to some extent or another, are discipling them.

Dallas Willard says “You are somebody’s disciple. You learned how to live from somebody else. There are no exceptions to this rule, for human beings are just the kind of creatures that have to learn and keep learning from others how to live”. Conversely, you are someone’s discipler. How are you discipling them? How seriously do you take that role? How do you connect that role to following Jesus? How do you see God’s calling on your life playing out in the choices you make every day that model, influence and disciple those around you?

If you’re anything like me, that is a challenging thought! I am all too aware of the times my lack of trust in God, my unwise choices or failing in my love for others sets a poor standard or example to my family, to my friends, to those I influence.

As we watch and experience events like CoVid and the unrest in the USA, or just react to the ups-and-downs of everyday life, how are our responses in words, and action reflecting, modelling Jesus’ teaching? How do our conversations point people to God’s kingdom. How are we identifying God’s created good, seeing the distortion of sin, and living out a Jesus-led ‘kingdom’ response. As we do that, we are teaching, influencing, discipling those around us. May God give us grace, strength and wisdom as we seek His leading!

What is ‘Orange’? Orange is a visual reminder that to help our kids follow Jesus the church and families need to work together.

If RED represents the love and heart of families for their kids…

And YELLOW represents the light that the church should be in the world…

Then ORANGE is when we come together, work together and guide our children together.*
