Passing on the Baton>>>

My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.  I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter things, things from old  –  things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.  We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done.”                                                    Psalms 78:1-4 NIV

Are you passing the baton? Are you ensuring the things God has done, His mighty deeds, are being told to generation to generation?  God’s vision for His people is invariably bigger than anything we can envisage yet unseen or though of from our end

But not His.

We are fundamentally selfish, having visions of meeting our own needs first, but the Scriptures challenge us to lift our eyes to the Lord and from Him to those around us and yet to come!!  I remember when we sought to invest deeply in our LIFE groups at Helensvale, training up to 120 LIFE group leaders, however very few of those trained ended up leading a LIFE group because the existing groups would not multiply.  It was a great disappointment to many and I believe God Himself.  Our eyes were on ourselves rather than those around us and even in generations yet to be.

Psalm 78 goes on to describe in detail how generation after generation forgot God, what He had done and His ways.  Their hearts were hard.  The Lord responded in judgment ,

Hebrews 3:7-11 describes it this way:

‘So, as the Holy Spirit says:  Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried Me, though for forty years they saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation; I said “Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways”  So I declared on oath in my anger, “They shall never enter my rest”’

So don’t harden your hearts to Gods multiplying agenda.  His vision is bigger than yours or mine.  If we are to be after His heart, following His way, letting Him lead, it will always mean multiplying into the lives of others.  Let us do that together
