                                    Celebration

What do you celebrate? At this time of the year things seem to switch (way
too soon) into celebration mode. Decorations go up in the streets,
supermarkets fill their shelves with red and green and Christmas themed
products including everything from chocolates to socks to vegemite! We also
celebrate the end of things, the end of the school year, graduation, or,
perhaps this year, the end of CoVid restrictions.

Many of these celebrations involve and include family. Family, and our various relationships with them
can make (or break) our celebrations. And it is within the context of family that our greatest
celebration of this time of year unfolds. God chose to offer us the greatest gift we could ever receive,
Jesus, God with us, in and through a family. Not a perfect family without difficulty – remember the trip
to Bethlehem, no room in which to stay (someone messed up on organising the bookings) and having
to become refugees in Egypt. As we prepare to celebrate God’s greatest gift, let’s also remember and
celebrate the gift of family; biological, church and community, and like Mary and Joseph, welcome
Jesus into our families by letting him live in and through us, letting his life impact those around us.

*What is ‘Orange’? Orange is a visual reminder that to help our kids follow Jesus, the church and families
          need to work together.

If RED represents the love and heart of families for their kids…
And YELLOW represents the light that the church should be in the world…
Then ORANGE is when we come together, work together and guide our children together.
