PARTNERING WITH YOU

CrossLife is a family of churches who believe that community is the centre of our daily lives

Once someone identifies themselves as a follower of the Lord Jesus, they are ‘ushered into’ God’s family. This experience of community life is a key to both the experience and expression of the wonder of God’s love and mercy, justice and uprightness of the Lord God as seen in the gospel: the good news that through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, God has opened the door for us to be ushered into His family!!

Without Jesus’ death and resurrection we would be left in our self-centeredness and its resulting hurt, wounding and lack in our own lives, and in our relationships with others. With Him as King and Saviour, we can aspire to more.

How can a community of broken, but forgiven, people leave aside that wounding experience of a community of self-centred individuals, to a deeper experience of generous and selfless love and commitment to each other? By putting into practice the principles of the Lord Jesus in their community life as they love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength and love their neighbours as themselves, and encourage each other to keep doing so!

This is what the CrossLife Membership Covenant is all about. These are not “rules of membership” in some legal sense, but aspirational statements of the behaviour and commitments we seek to find in each other. They are reflected in our CrossLife Constitution, but more importantly reflect principles of the Lord Jesus as set out in the Bible.

As a member of CrossLife we ask you to consider this covenant, and what it asks of each of us, and sign it as a statement of your aspirations for your behaviour as part of CrossLife to each other and the world around us.

THE MEMBERSHIP COVENANT
As a member of CrossLife – a baptist church, relying upon the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, in submission to the Lord Jesus Christ, and in order to give glory to God, to reflect, I agree with other members to demonstrate my membership of the church, in our lives together and in our surrounding locality, through the following practices and aspirations:

1. Attending on a regular basis a worship service of the church (Hebrews 10:24-25);

2. Joining a Life Group to grow in my Christian walk together with others (Acts 2:46);

3. Attending Church Meetings (Acts 6:3, 15:22);

4. Willingly and generously contribute financially toward the work of the
church (Acts 2:45, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 8:10-11);

5. Committing to personal spiritual growth through prayer and study of the
Bible (2 Timothy 3:14-16);

6. Maintaining the unity and integrity of the church in love and submission
(Ephesians 4:1-6);

7. Identifying, developing and utilising my spiritual gifts, for the greater good
and strengthening of the church (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

8. If not already baptised as a believer, I will maintain before God and with
the church a deliberate and prayerful consideration of believer’s baptism
(Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-4)
